About the role
What you’ll be working on and why this role matters.
The Data Architect / DBA is responsible for the overall data architecture, database design, performance, and data strategy across the software platform, ensuring that data structures and database environments are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise requirements.
The role defines logical and physical data models, schemas, relationships, database standards, data flows, and storage strategies across all application subsystems. As the DBA, the role also oversees database performance, indexing, query optimisation, capacity, availability, backup, recovery, and operational stability.
Working closely with the Enterprise Architect, Engineering teams, Business Analysts, and Data Migration pod, the Data Architect / DBA ensures that application and database designs remain consistent and that data dependencies across subsystems are properly managed. The role establishes data governance standards covering data quality, integrity, security, access, retention, and consistency, while supporting development and QA teams with database-related technical guidance.
A key responsibility is providing architectural and technical oversight for the parallel Oracle-to-PostgreSQL data migration workstream, including source-to-target data mapping, database compatibility, transformation requirements, migration validation, performance considerations, and reconciliation.
Ultimately, the Data Architect / DBA acts as the technical custodian of the platform's data layer, ensuring that databases and data services are well-designed, performant, secure, governed, and capable of supporting the platform throughout its lifecycle.
