About the role
What you’ll be working on and why this role matters.
The QA Lead is responsible for defining and governing the overall QA strategy, test planning, automation approach, and quality standards across all Scrum pods. The role establishes the programme-wide quality framework and ensures consistent testing practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
The QA Lead provides direction to QA Engineers embedded within each Scrum pod, establishing standards for functional, integration, regression, API, automation, and release testing. The role ensures that appropriate test coverage, quality gates, test environments, and automation practices are incorporated into each delivery cycle.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager, Engineering Leader, Business Analysts, Developers, DevOps, and Product Owners, the QA Lead identifies quality risks, test dependencies, and release readiness requirements and ensures that issues are addressed proactively. The role also owns quality metrics and reporting, monitoring test coverage, automation coverage, defect trends, test execution, regression results, and other key quality indicators to provide clear visibility into product and release quality.
Ultimately, the QA Lead acts as the programme-wide quality authority, setting the quality bar, driving test automation, and ensuring that every Scrum pod delivers reliable, thoroughly tested, and production-ready software.
